Jatav - History and Cultural Relations

Origins of the Jatavs, as well as most other Chamar and Untouchable castes, are mythical. Some say the Jatavs are the product of marriage of upper-caste Jats with Chamar women. Jatavs themselves deny such origins. In preindependent India they claimed upper-caste Kshatriya or warrior origin. In post-independent India many have claimed to be descendants of India's ancient Buddhists. This claim is in part a rejection of Untouchable status and in part an assertion of a political identity of equality rejecting the caste system.

1. what there is some evidence that JATAV origin is the product of marriage of upper-caste Jats with Chamar women ?
2.Jataves were survivors of the ancient war between Parashuram, the legend of the Brahmins, and Kshatriyas, forced into hiding. Proof of Kshatriya ancestry is found in a series of correspondences or status similarities between Jatav and Other Kshatriya clana. These includes identical gotras, and such Kshatriya-like ceremonies as shooting a cannon at wedding and the use of the bow and arrow at the birth.

Jatav is a very progressive sub- caste of Scheduled Caste in India. The word "JATAV" is mainly used in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, while in other state they are known from different names. They strongly believes in Buddhism and Philosphy of Great Baba Saheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.Jatav is a very great cast of SC`s as they focused on education and their living style also this is only one cast who left their business of leather as they untouchable for that (which is now running by baniya`s. Also among all SC`s this is only the cast which is doing things good and also give respect every body also does hard work As we all know Dr. BR ambedkar was not from Jatav cast But Only this cast gives thanks to him as these people knows "Namak Halali" thats right he made a law for all but we think we are success because of him(baba sahab) only jatav has their photo in their house. we are like Rajput our ritual are like rajput. may be our origin is rajput.many time we are also called as chamar. but we are very loyal and we proude to be jatavs and thanks to baba sahab.we follow a good path not like yadav, jat, gujjar who got alots of money as muawja but still doing robbary, stealing, gundagardi. we are also have gotra. we follow all rule regulation like rajput.Just because of our this nature evry cast like us and among all sc only Jatavs are successfull very famous jatavs are: Mayawati (born 1956), Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh[citation needed]

Jatav people should know one thing, we should keep only one title now n that is 'jatav' this is the only way now to come together n get organised as ONE.. but this is not sufficient, we should bring all our brothers together that is all castes of SC n OBC only then we can win.. we must think over it to start a new era that is JATAV'S ERA..

It is unbeliveble that Actor/Singer Sonu Nigam belongs to jatav comunity.
I feel that jatavs are very much short in defence services i.e. in Army/Airforce and navy specially in officers cadre. it will be really good if we uplift our Jatav comunity to join NDA/CDS and provid them some special tips/coching class to incourage jatav youth students to come in defence services

It is very true that jatav are very freindly and putting more focus to impart higher education to their children. They believe in buddhism since this religion believen in equality and non violence. Jatav is more progressive compare to other community. I wish them for achieve more success and become assests of India. No body can say that Jatav any body belong to jatav ever involved in anti national activity. We love our country and its citizen as if they are our family members.

as a member of caste of Baba sahib I respect all my family members. Doubt has no place when ur committed to ideology of baba sahib.caste has no place amongst sc,st,BC,obc, and religious miniorties converted from these peoples if they r honest towards country and original Indians.to consider ourselves as from higher castes is brahmin mat.we peoples as mentioned above r also followers of Mahatama Buddha and Guru nanak.they teach us sarbat da bhala.those peoples which hate us r anti national elements.amongst us if any body hate us he is of doubtful origin.
.
Today i read this article and i feel very much proud to be jatav and more than that to know about sonu migam^s caste. In the present scenerio it is much required to up lift ourselves than criticise other castes. Today we are so capable that we can provide better education as well as higher job oriented courses to our forthcoming generations. taking the example of Baba sahab if he were not so highly qualified, learned and scholar anybody would revered him.
thanks .

I always feel to be a jatav ,but I really sad about that cheep thinkers should not want to think that humanity is the our main cast .there is no place for cast if we think good or do good ,due to castism our nation back than any other country. No one said that we r Hindu or Hindustan.

Hi guys... I am researcher and would like to tell about this strong cast "jatav"..first of all I would like to tell u that in early/old India approx BC...there were tWO fighter cast "Hoond" & "Jatiyas"..in India..after knowing there potentials they started "roti beti ka sambandh with each other..so that mix but pure strong blood of these casts became "jatav"..frankly if u research in right manner from history "not man made" but research of true history will actually tell what happened with jatavas by mangoles & aaryans..what they did to jatavas so that supressingly & helplessly they took such all "neech works" in India for surviving..they were never "chamars"..the details which are available on net about jatavs is posted by normal people or by the outsiders.."normal people who don't know about jatavas but jus wanna do discrimination will always say such stupid statements that "jatavs & chamars are same"..so please before saying anything for such respected cast do research a lot..thanks..Jai Hind..!

Jatav is actually chamar caste. In SC list of any state, there is no caste named Jatav. In some states they are called jatav chamar, jatia chamar etc. Jatav and chamar is same. True jatav chamar are more progressive than other SC castes. Jatav think their forefathers are rajpoot, which is not true.
I think Jatav are most progressive cast in India. This cast is not a normal cast , it is a cast that work hard in all field as well as study or any work.

Jatavs are shudra, it is well known fact. Due to education they are calling themsleves as like Rajputs, They are basically a very very low caste, they are untouchables of india. It is a fashion to by every low caste to call them as rajputs. But rajput is a very vey high caste,

Jatav is the most educated and systematical caste also diplomatic because its a only single group who ramped many other caste groups . this caste is the kingmaker. they have a many non-relegeous philosophy like charvaka and buddhist.

1. In Vedic period there is no clan of Leather work profession which is started in Mughal Arabic rulers. Reason no mean of Leather shoes as still wooden khadau are in culture.
2. Jatav survivors of ancient times due parsuram . Kshatriya hiding themselves between jat and other gotra/community. Raghav clan did vivah in jat clan and which is a unclubable in both caste and that's why raghav+jat called Jatav an untouchable caste/clan.
3. Chamar Caste, Vedic /historical period says chanwar Vans a kshatriya clan we have in India.. Due to Mughal Arabic and other rulers they forced to perform leather profession as one of the case is Ravidas in the period of aurangzeb. By time chanwar now called as chamaar a shudra by leather profession a low category karma.
4. Jatav is an unclubable untouchable mix caste clan vs Chamaar is a shudra pure clan and part of Varn system.

Wow! Us Rajpoots have a way in discriminating with our own people. My parents discriminated with my friends and I left my house afterwards. But then I realized every person belonging to Rajpoot or Brahmin clan are the biggest racists in our society, not just my parents. Discrimiantion have settled in our vains. Only vaishyas are somewhat ignorant towards it but still sometimes they does the same thing. I feel ashamed to see this. I myself is marrying to a Jatav girl. I was just curious about the history of Jatavs but all I could see is us degrading each other. I am so glad I left my home and now today I shall leave this so called Rajput clan who are the biggest Racists of all. Now I undedatand how British and Mughals were able to rule over us.
