Mono

The Mono, including the Eastern Mono (Owens Valley Paiute) and the Western Mono (Monache) lived in eastern California near the Nevada border, in Owens Valley, and the country to the west, near Bishop, California. They speak a Shoshonean language. There may be as many as six hundred now living in a number of communities and on the Tule River Indian Reservation. They are culturally closest to the Yokuts to the west.
