Nearly one-third of Canadians claim multiple ethnic origin. People who report British origin (including Irish) make up almost 45 percent of the population. Canada is also home to a large French minority (30 percent of the population) and a smaller number of native peoples, including the Inuit (Eskimos). Canadians also report origin from other European countries including Germany and Italy (about 3 percent each); and Ukraine, the Netherlands, and Poland (about 1 percent each).
