The people of Latvia are called Latvians. More than half the population trace their ancestry to Latvia. The remainder of the population is Russian, 33 percent; Belarusan, 4 percent; Ukrainian, 3 percent; Polish, 2 percent; and Lithuanian, a little more than 1 percent.
